ZOOM LENS

A zoom lens is a lens which having  variable focal length in actual practice the focal length of these lenses can be continuously by movement of one or more groups of element in the lens system

PRINCIPAL : it is based upon the principal that the focal  length of a combined lenses depends upon the focal length of individual focal length and the separation between the lens components. for example the focal length of two lenses of focal lengths f1 and f2  separated by distance d is given by thus in a lens system

consisting of a concave and convex lens components the focal length of the system can be changed by changing the separation between the component lenses

WORKING: a zoom lens is use to take a close up of a spot siutated at a distance as the focal length of zoom lens is increased the view taken in become narrow thus a close

up is taken by changing the position of componebt of lenses different size of imagees can be obtained as the various position that by changing the separation between component lens progressive enlarge size of image is obtained
